Vegan Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Here’s a recipe for vegan chocolate chip banana bread.

This banana bread is gooey, moist, and incredibly flavorful. I absolutely love making banana bread because it’s easy to make and tastes delicious. It’s the perfect cozy treat to make during the fall and winter seasons.


Ingredients

1. Whole Wheat Flour

The first ingredient you need to make this delicious vegan chocolate chip banana bread is whole wheat flour. This will serve as your base for the banana bread.

If you prefer pasty flour or oat flour, feel free to use that as well. It might have a slightly different texture if you don’t use whole wheat flour, but it should turn out just as delicious!


2. Baking Powder

The next ingredient you need is baking powder. You need 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder for this recipe. Baking powder helps the banana bread rise.


3. Cinnamon

The only spice you need for this recipe is cinnamon. I absolutely love using cinnamon in dessert recipes because it adds a great flavor to any recipe! You need 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon to make this banana bread.


4. Mashed Banana

You also need 1 1/2 bananas. The best banana bread is made with bananas that are starting to turn a bit brown. That’s when they’re the sweetest!

Mash 1 1/2 bananas in a bowl until all the chunks are gone. The banana helps give the banana bread extra sweetness as well!


5. Vanilla Extract

You also need 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. A splash of vanilla goes a long way.


6. Applesauce

The next ingredient you need is applesauce. Applesauce gives the banana bread additional sweetness. This recipe calls for 1/3 cup of applesauce.


7. Maple Syrup

The next ingredient you need is maple syrup. I used 3 tbsp of maple syrup and it added the perfect amount of sweetness. Feel free to use more or less maple syrup depending on how sweet you want it.


8. Chocolate Chips

The last ingredient you need to make this vegan chocolate chip banana bread is chocolate chips. I sprinkled some chocolate chips on top, but you can also fold chocolate chips into the batter if you want as well! It depends how much chocolate you want in your banana bread.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 mashed bananas
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup applesauce
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp vegan chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven at 350°
  • Add wet ingredients in one bowl
  • Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl
  • Slowly fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients
  • Grease a small bread pan
  • Pour banana bread mixture in pan
  • Add chocolate chips on top (optional)
  • Bake for 30 minutes at 350°
  • Let cool in fridge for a few hours (it tastes best chilled)
  • Slice and enjoy!
