In this recipe, I used applesauce, dates, maple syrup, and chocolate chips to sweeten the brownies. These brownies turned out super fudgy and delicious, and I can’t wait to make them again soon.
This is a super simple recipe to make that requires little prep time. I added colorful sprinkles on top for extra sweetness, but you can add any toppings you want. Some of my favorite toppings include walnuts, peanut butter drizzle, and a chocolate drizzle.
Ingredients
- Medjool Dates: The first ingredient you need for this recipe is medjool dates. I bought pitted dates so I wouldn’t have to worry about taking the pits out. This recipe calls for 10 dates. Soak the dates in warm water until softened.
- Oat Flour: The next ingredient you need is oat flour. You can easily make oat flour by blending rolled oats in a blender.
- Baking Powder: The next ingredient you need is baking powder. This recipe calls for 1/2 tsp of baking powder.
- Cocoa Powder: The next ingredient you need is cocoa powder. Cocoa powder gives the brownies a strong chocolate flavor. I used Hershey’s Unsweetened Cocoa Powder for this recipe.
- Applesauce: Next is applesauce. This recipe calls for 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp of applesauce.
- Peanut Butter: The next ingredient you need is peanut butter. I used creamy peanut butter, but feel free to use crunchy peanut butter instead.
- Vanilla Extract: You also need a splash of vanilla extract.
- Almond Milk: The next ingredient you need is almond milk, or a nut milk of your choice. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
- Chocolate Chips: Next, you need chocolate chips. Some of my favorite vegan chocolate chips are Lilly’s and Enjoy Life’s.
- Maple Syrup: The last ingredient you need is maple syrup. This recipe calls for 1 tbsp of maple syrup. It makes the brownies sweeter.
