Where I live, it’s HOT in the summertime. It has also been abnormally hotter than usual. I think there’s a heat wave at the moment, and I’m not too happy about it. I like the summertime and the sunshine, but at this point in the summer the temperature and humidity is too high for my liking. It’s been hot and humid in the mornings and I’ve been dreading working out. My favorite running weather is ultimately in cooler temperatures. I’d much rather run in the snow than in the heat.

I’ve even been getting up at 7-8am in the mornings to run so I can beat the heat, but it’s still pretty hot and humid out. Some days it’s been quite miserable to run and I’ve had to cut my runs short. I don’t do well in the heat.

Due to the hot and humid temperatures during the month of July, I’ve been making smoothies a lot lately to keep me cool. It’s something I look forward to upon finishing my workout. I made a strawberry banana smoothie recently that was absolutely delicious, so I decided it was time to create a recipe for a mango banana smoothie. I haven’t made it before, but I’ve been wanting to make more smoothie flavors to give myself and others more options.

And trust me when I say banana and mango smoothies are amazing! It really is the perfect concoction. I honestly didn’t know I like mango so much until I tasted this smoothie. It was delicious and the best part is that there is no added sugar in this smoothie. Yay for all-natural fruit sugar! I try my best to keep the sugar to a minimum, because it’s not the best for you in too large of quantities. Everything is fine in moderation, and that certainly applies to sugar, but sometimes desserts have an insane amount of sugar.

Ingredients you’ll need:

1. Frozen Mango

The first ingredient you’ll need is frozen mango. I used frozen mango that I bought from Trader Joe’s, but you could also cut up some fresh mango and pop it in the freezer.

2. Frozen Banana

You’ll also need frozen banana. I always cut up bananas at the beginning of the week and place them in the freezer to make smoothies.

3. Almond Milk

Lastly, you’ll need almond milk, or a nut milk of your choice. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but you can use any nut milk that you want!

It’s really simple to make and calls for only three ingredients. All you need is banana, mango, and almond milk. It’s that simple! I highly recommend trying this smoothie out if you’ve been in the sun a lot and need a nice refreshing drink to cool yourself off. It’s the absolute perfect drink to make during the summertime.

I’ve been switching up my recipes and making more fruity ones like smoothies and smoothie bowls, and I am super excited with how they are all turning out. Sometimes you just have to throw some ingredients together and see what happens.

Final Thoughts

Top the smoothie off with banana, granola, or your desired fixings. I love adding granola to my smoothies and smoothie bowls, but unfortunately, I didn’t have any left in my pantry so I had to opt for additional banana slices. I really like banana though, so it was perfectly fine. Some other toppings that you can add are peanut butter drizzle, chocolate drizzle, or a different fruit such as strawberries.
