Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! I’m super excited to share this new recipe with you all. I wanted to make protein packed waffles, so I used my favorite Orgain protein powder in the creamy chocolate flavor and whipped up this batch of chocolate chip protein waffles.

I topped my waffles with creamy peanut butter, banana, and vegan chocolate chips. This meal was super filling and it’s perfect for anyone who prefers sweet breakfasts over savory ones. I like savory breakfasts from time to time, but I tend to make sweet breakfasts more often.

You’ll also need a mini waffle maker to make these waffles. I used my Dash mini waffle maker and it made three small waffles. It’s so easy to use and it’s definitely worth the hype. I cooked each waffle for four minutes, and it’s a great quick breakfast to make if you don’t have a lot of time.

I also really like this waffle maker because it’s compact and you can easily take it with you wherever you go. It doesn’t take up a lot of space either which is great if you live in an apartment or have a smaller living space.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • Rolled Oats: The first ingredient you’ll need is rolled oats. You’ll want to blend 1/2 cup of rolled oats in a blender or NutriBullet to form a flour-like consistency. I used my NutriBullet, but any blender should work. You could also use oat flour that is already pre-made, however, I didn’t have any, so I made it myself. Oats are an essential when making pancakes or waffles, and they’re really filling as well.
  • Baking Powder: You’ll also need baking powder. This is an essential ingredient when making pancakes or waffles, and it’s always in my recipes.
  • Chocolate Protein Powder: Next, you’ll need a chocolate protein powder of your choice. I used Orgain’s chocolate creamy fudge protein powder, but you can use any chocolate protein powder that you want. I really like Orgain’s protein powders because they’re vegan and taste really good.
  • Nut Milk: You’ll also need a nut milk of your choice. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but you could also use soy milk, silk milk, almond milk, or another milk of your choice. You can also use water if you don’t want to use a plant-based milk.
  • Banana: The next ingredient you’ll need is banana. Banana is sweet, so it helps add sweetness to the waffles. It also helps make the waffles moist and gives them a nice texture. I really like using fruit to sweeten my recipes to reduce the added sugar in my recipes.
  • Chocolate Chips: The last ingredient you’ll need is chocolate chips. I buy vegan chocolate chips from a variety of grocery stores, and most stores carry vegan baking chips, so you should be able to find some vegan chocolate chips at most grocery stores. I sprinkled a few chocolate chips on top of the waffles for some additional sweetness, but you can also fold some chocolate chips into the waffle batter prior to cooking them.

Optional Toppings

As for toppings, I added some creamy peanut butter on top of my waffles, banana slices, and chocolate chips. I love adding either a nut butter or peanut butter to my pancakes and waffles instead of maple syrup, and it adds a great source of protein and healthy fats. I also added a few slices of banana on top for some additional sweetness.
