Crispy Roasted Chickpeas

If you’re looking for a high-protein recipe to make, then you need to try this crispy roasted chickpea recipe. Chickpeas are high in protein and are perfect to add to any dish. These chickpeas are bursting with flavor and are super easy to make.

This recipe calls for just five ingredients (chickpeas, olive oil, nutritional yeast, garlic powder & onion powder) and is extremely budget-friendly. Adding a little olive oil makes them crispy, and the various spices add flavor. I like adding nutritional yeast because it adds a nice cheesy flavor. Garlic powder and onion powder add saltiness.

I like to eat them as a snack in addition to tossing them in salads, burritos, tacos and nourish bowls. They’re flavorful, crunchy, and delicious. And they only take around 25 minutes to bake in the oven.

How long does this recipe take to make?

Including prep time and all, this recipe takes around 40 minutes to make. Leave around 10 minutes for prepping the ingredients, 25 minutes for baking them in the oven, and 5 minutes for them to cool. It’s an easy recipe to meal prep on the weekends to have as a snack and a source of protein to throw in your meals throughout the week. I love making a large batch so that I have them on hand to add to my meals.

What can I add this crispy chickpeas to?

These crispy chickpeas are perfect added to pretty much any meal–in salads, nourish bowls, burritos, tacos, pasta, and more! One of my favorite meals is a loaded salad bowl with tofu, chickpeas, lettuce or spinach, rice, avocado, tomatoes, hummus, nutritional yeast and salsa. It’s an easy veggie bowl you can make at home. Meal prepping crispy roasted chickpeas makes these bowls super easy to make!

Ingredients

  • Chickpeas: The first ingredient you need is a 15 oz can of chickpeas. I drained the chickpeas and rinsed them off with water, then added them to a large mixing bowl so that I could easily add all of the other ingredients together. Chickpeas (garbanzo beans) are a great source of protein and are one of my favorite beans to use in recipes. They’re super flavorful added with spices and additional seasonings.
  • Olive Oil: You will need 1/2 tbsp of olive oil. I drizzled the olive oil on the chickpeas and mixed until all of the chickpeas were evenly coated in olive oil. This helps the chickpeas crisp in the oven, and adds flavor as well.
  • Nutritional Yeast: Next, you need 1 tsp of nutritional yeast. I love adding nutritional yeast to my recipes because it’s super nutritious and adds a great flavor. Nutritional yeast is also high in vitamin B12.
  • Garlic Powder: Garlic powder is one of my favorite spices to use when cooking because it adds so much flavor to any dish.
  • Onion Powder: Similar to garlic powder, onion powder adds great flavor to food. I love adding garlic powder and onion powder together.
