Donuts are easily one of my favorite desserts. These chocolate protein donuts are easy to make and delicious. I added vegan chocolate chips for some extra sweetness, but it’s completely optional and they taste just as delicious without the chocolate chunks.Â
How long does this recipe take to make?
This recipe takes about 30 minutes including prep time.
Ingredients
- Chocolate Protein Powder: The first ingredient you need for these vegan chocolate protein donuts is chocolate protein powder. I used Orgain’s Creamy Chocolate Fudge protein powder for this recipe. I used two scoops (43g).
- Applesauce: The next ingredient you need is applesauce. Applesauce makes the donuts moist and gooey.
- Whole Wheat Flour: The next ingredient you need is whole wheat flour. This recipe calls for 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour.
- Rolled Oats: The next ingredient you need is rolled oats. Blend 1/4 cup of rolled oats in a blender to make oat flour.
- Peanut Butter: The next ingredient you need is peanut butter. You need 1/4 cup of peanut butter for this donut recipe.
- Almond Milk: The next ingredient you need is almond milk, or a nut milk of your choice. Almond milk is used as the liquid base in this recipe to help thin the batter out.
- Vegan Chocolate Chips: The last ingredient you need is chocolate chips. Some of my favorite chocolate chips are Lilly’s mini chocolate chips and Enjoy Life’s mini chocolate chips. I folded some chocolate chips in the donut batter and also added a layer of chocolate on top of the donuts as sort of a frosting. I added some colorful sprinkles as well.
