These brownies are sweetened with dates, maple syrup, and dark chocolate chips. Dates are known as nature’s candy and are incredibly sweet, and they’re great to use in dessert recipes.

We’re approaching the holidays, which means holiday baking is in full swing. I love the holidays and all of the baking that comes with it. One of my favorite holiday treats to make is brownies, and these vegan brownies are a must for this holiday season. They’re topped with walnuts and dark chocolate chips, and they’re super delicious.

Brownies are a great dessert to make for a holiday party or a Thanksgiving gathering, and it’s truly a staple when it comes to dessert. This recipe makes about nine brownies, but feel free to double or even triple the batch if you want to make a larger batch of brownies.

Ingredients

  • Oat Flour: The first ingredient you need is oat flour. To make oat flour, blend rolled or instant oats in a blender.
  • Baking Powder: The next ingredient you need is baking powder. Baking powder is a leavening agent that makes the brownies rise.
  • Peanut Butter: The next ingredient you need is peanut butter. This recipe calls for 2 tbsp of creamy peanut butter.
  • Cocoa Powder: The next ingredient you need is cocoa powder. I used Hershey’s cocoa powder for this recipe. This recipe calls for 1/4 cup of cocoa powder.
  • Medjool Dates: The next ingredient you need is medjool dates. Dates are one of my favorite ingredients to use in dessert recipes because they’re incredibly sweet.
  • Maple Syrup: The next ingredient you need is maple syrup. This recipe calls for 1 tbsp of maple syrup. I wanted to make the brownies a bit sweeter, so I added maple syrup to the brownies.
  • Walnuts: I also sprinkled a handful of walnuts on top of my brownies. I absolutely love adding nuts to brownies, and walnuts are one of my favorite nuts to eat!
  • Chocolate Chips: The next ingredient you need is chocolate chips. I sprinkled some chocolate chips on top of the brownies prior to baking them in the oven, and the chocolate melted and added additional sweetness as well.
  • Almond Milk: I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk to make the batter creamier. This recipe calls for 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp of nut milk.
