Not everyone loves vegetables, and I didn’t use to like them very much years ago. I would hardly eat vegetables, and I would always choose a sweet option over a savory one.
However, nowadays, I love vegetables. I eat them almost every day and I add them to my salads, burritos, tacos, and so on. And I would have to say that Brussels sprouts are one of my favorite vegetables to eat.
Although I love eating veggies alone without any seasonings or spices, they’re also incredibly delicious with some added flavor and baked in the oven. If you haven’t tried roasting your veggies and baking them in the oven, then you definitely need to try it out asap.
The key in making vegetables taste better is adding an assortment of spices and flavor. For this recipe, I used extra virgin olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, nutritional yeast, salt, and pepper. I like adding a little oil to my vegetables to make them golden brown and crispy.
This recipe yields two servings (feel free to double the recipe) and is quite easy to make. After prepping your Brussels sprouts and adding all of the ingredients together in a bowl, you’ll want to bake the Brussels sprouts in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°.
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- Frozen Brussels Sprouts: The first ingredient you’ll need is frozen or fresh Brussels sprouts. I only had frozen Brussels sprouts in my kitchen, but you can use fresh Brussels sprouts as well. You’ll need two cups of Brussels sprouts, which is equivalent to about 28 individual Brussels sprouts.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Next, you’ll need 2 tsp of extra virgin olive oil. If I add oil to my savory recipes, I almost always use extra virgin olive oil. It’s my favorite kind of oil to use and it adds a nice flavor to the Brussels sprouts. It also makes them brown and crispy, which I absolutely love.
- Garlic Powder: You’ll also need garlic powder. Garlic powder is one of those seasonings that seriously tastes good in everything. I use garlic powder in almost all of my savory dishes/recipes because I love garlic and it adds a nice garlic/salty flavor to any recipe.
- Onion Powder: Another ingredient I like to use is onion powder. Like the garlic, I use onion powder in pretty much all of my savory recipes. Onion powder has a nice onion/salty flavor, and it makes the Brussels sprouts even more flavorful.
- Nutritional Yeast: This next ingredient is nutritional yeast. If you’re not a huge fan of nutritional yeast, you can omit this ingredient from the recipe. I personally love nutritional yeast and add it to my recipes whenever I can. It has a cheesy flavor, and it adds a nice flavor to the Brussels sprouts as well.
- Salt: You can add as much or as little salt as you want. After I placed the coated Brussels sprouts on my baking pan, I sprinkled some sea salt on the Brussels sprouts. I don’t like a lot of salt, so I typically add just a dash of salt to my recipes.
- Pepper: Lastly, you’ll need a dash of pepper. Like the salt, you can add as much or as little pepper as you want.
