Apple Cinnamon Donuts (Vegan & Oil-Free)

These apple cinnamon donuts are incredibly easy to make. This recipe calls for oat flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon, applesauce, maple syrup, nut milk, peanut butter, and apples. All of these ingredients are affordable and budget-friendly.

These donuts are also oil-free and sweetened with apples and pure maple syrup. Maple syrup is one of my favorite sweeteners to use because it’s very sweet. The hint of cinnamon adds a nice flavor as well.

You can enjoy these apple cinnamon donuts right out of the oven or chilled. They’re incredibly tasty either way. I recommend pouring a tall glass of chilled nut milk to enjoy with these donuts.

How long do the donuts take to make?

These apple cinnamon donuts take around 10 minutes to prep the ingredients, and 15 minutes to bake in the oven. Bake them at 350°, let them cool, and enjoy! In total, this recipe takes about 25 minutes to make.

How many donuts does this recipe make?

This recipe yields 6 donuts. If you want to make a larger batch, double the ingredients listed below on the recipe card.

Ingredients

  • Oat Flour: Oat flour is the main ingredient you need for this recipe. If you don’t have oat flour already pre-made, you can easily make it by blending rolled or instant oats in a blender or NutriBullet to form oat flour.
  • Whole Wheat Flour: I used whole wheat flour in this recipe in addition to the oat flour. Since whole wheat flour is pretty dense, I wanted to use a blend of oat flour and whole wheat flour. I used 1/4 cup of whole wheat flour for this recipe.
  • Baking Powder: You also need 1 tsp of baking powder. Baking powder helps make the donuts rise.
  • Cinnamon: You need 1/2 tsp of cinnamon for this recipe. Cinnamon is one of my favorite spices to use, and it’s a spice that adds immense flavor to recipes. Cinnamon mixed with maple syrup and apples is a combination that’s truly unmatched.
  • Applesauce: I used applesauce to make the donuts sweeter and to give them a strong apple flavor. I used unsweetened applesauce, but you can use sweetened applesauce as well.
  • Pure Maple Syrup: To sweeten these donuts, I used 3 tbsp of maple syrup. This equates to about 1/2 tbsp of maple syrup for each donut. Feel free to add more maple syrup if you want them even sweeter!
  • Nut Milk (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk): You can use any nut milk you want for this recipe. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
  • Creamy Salted Peanut Butter: I also used 2 tbsp of creamy salted peanut butter. You can’t taste the peanut butter, but the peanut butter helps make the donuts moist and gooey.
  • Chopped Apple Pieces: Lastly, you need 1/2 cup of chopped apple pieces. Fold the apple pieces into the donut batter. You can also sprinkle a few apple pieces on top of each donut for additional crunch and flavor.
